A LITTLE HELP FOR YOUR NEXT BINDER PROJECT
Print Pokémon placeholders at actual size
Use the same paper size as your PDF, print at 100% / Actual size, and check the 50 mm reference line before printing the whole set. Each BinderPress insert is designed to be 63 mm wide and 88 mm tall.
A quick check before you print
- Export for the paper you loaded: A4 or US Letter.
- Choose Actual size or 100% in the PDF print dialog.
- Turn off Fit to page and any other automatic scaling.
- Print one page and measure the 50 mm line and an insert.
- Keep the tested settings for the remaining pages.
Binder pockets and printed sheets are different
A 12-pocket binder has 12 pockets on one page side. Your home printer still uses the selected paper size, so a 12-pocket preview does not mean 12 cards print on one sheet.
BinderPress currently places up to nine inserts on A4 and six on US Letter, with each insert kept at 63 × 88 mm. The final sheet may contain fewer cards. Changing between 0, 2 and 4 mm spacing changes the gaps rather than shrinking the cards.
| Export | Paper size | Cards per full sheet |
|---|---|---|
| A4 | 210 × 297 mm | 9 · 3 columns × 3 rows |
| US Letter | 215.9 × 279.4 mm | 6 · 3 columns × 2 rows |
Why do my placeholders look too small?
Check the reference line first. If a line labeled 50 mm measures less than 50 mm, the print has been scaled down. Matching paper size and turning off Fit to page are the first settings to inspect.
Adobe Acrobat distinguishes Actual size, which leaves the scale unchanged, from Fit, which resizes the document to the printer’s printable area. Other PDF viewers may use different wording. If a setting crops the page, check the selected paper and printable margins rather than assuming a smaller insert is correct.
Choose paper your printer supports
Plain paper works for a first size and cutting test. If you prefer a stiffer insert, try a matte paper or light cardstock that your printer and feed tray explicitly support. Check the printer’s media specifications and choose the matching paper type in its driver.
A paper weight is not a universal recommendation: supported weights and trays differ between printers. Check how a trimmed sample sits in your own sleeve or pocket before buying or printing a large batch.
Choose the cutting guides you need
Minimal uses light crop marks; Bold marks makes the marks darker and longer. Full outlines draws a border around each card, and No guides leaves them off. Spaced layouts leave gutters between cards; a zero-gap layout shares cut edges.
Follow the guide lines with your preferred cutting tool. After trimming a test insert, measure both edges again. Once size and fit look right, print the remaining selected cards.
