A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT WONDER

A little help for
those empty pockets.

Quick answers for planning your binder and printing its missing pieces. These inserts mark personal collection spaces; they are not authentic cards for trading, selling or playing.

What is a Pokémon master set?

Collectors commonly use “master set” for the numbered cards in an expansion plus the distinct finishes they choose to collect, often including reverse holos. Promos, stamps and other extras depend on your collecting scope. Decide which printings belong in your binder before counting its slots.

Do Pokémon master sets include reverse holos?

Many collectors include reverse holos where they exist. Finish availability varies by set and language; do not assume every card has a reverse holo or that a set’s slot count simply doubles. BinderPress separates documented finishes and optional groups, with coverage notices where metadata is incomplete.

What size should my Pokémon placeholders be?

BinderPress exports 63 × 88 mm inserts, approximately 2.48 × 3.46 inches. Print a test page and measure both the insert and the 50 mm reference line. The 4-, 9-, 12- and 16-pocket binder choices do not change the insert dimensions.

Should I choose a 9-pocket or 12-pocket binder?

Choose a layout that suits your collection’s slot count and the binder’s stated capacity. Nine pockets form a 3 × 3 page side; twelve form a 3 × 4 page side. BinderPress previews 4, 9, 12 and 16 pockets. Printer sheets are separate: the current PDF layout holds up to nine inserts on A4 or six on US Letter.

What paper should I use for placeholder cards?

Plain paper works for a first size and cutting test. For a stiffer insert, try matte paper or light cardstock that your printer and feed tray explicitly support. There is no universal paper-weight recommendation. Test a trimmed sample in your sleeve or pocket before printing a large batch.

Can I print placeholders only for cards I do not own?

Yes. Mark the slots you own, choose Print missing for your collection scope, and review the selected cards before exporting. When a real card arrives, mark that slot owned. Each documented finish has its own ownership slot; ownership and the selection to print are separate.

Print only the missing cards ↗

How do I print placeholders at actual size?

Export for the paper you loaded, then choose 100% / Actual size in the print dialog and turn off automatic Fit or Shrink scaling. Print one page first. The reference line should measure 50 mm and a trimmed insert should measure 63 × 88 mm.

Follow the actual-size printing guide ↗

How many binder pages does my collection need?

Divide the number of collection slots by the pockets on one page side and round up. If each physical sheet has usable pockets on both sides, divide the page-side result by two and round up again. These are binder page estimates, not printer-paper counts. Use your own verified slot count in the calculator.
