A LITTLE HELP FOR YOUR NEXT BINDER PROJECT

4 vs 9 vs 12 pocket binders for master sets

Choose a pocket layout using the number of slots in your own collecting scope. Divide by pockets per page side and round up; use a separate calculation for two-sided physical sheets.

Start with your slot count

The 250-slot example is illustrative, not the claimed size of a particular master set. Include only the finishes, galleries, stamps or promos you want and can verify. A shared collector number can represent separate printings.

Use ceil(slots ÷ pockets) for page sides. Then use ceil(page sides ÷ 2) only when both sides of every physical sheet have usable pockets. Check the binder maker’s actual capacity.

Choose a layout you enjoy

Four pockets give a 2 × 2 page side, nine give 3 × 3, and twelve give 3 × 4. BinderPress also previews sixteen pockets in a 4 × 4 layout. The right choice depends on the scope, the binder’s stated capacity and how you want to arrange the cards.

Binder pockets and printer sheets are separate

Every BinderPress insert is 63 × 88 mm. The current PDF layout fits up to nine inserts on A4 or six on US Letter. Changing the binder preview to four or twelve pockets does not change those PDF dimensions or printer-paper capacities.

Questions before you choose

How do I calculate binder pages for a master set?

First define the slots in your collecting scope. Divide that slot count by pockets per page side, round up, and then divide by two and round up again if both sides of each physical sheet are usable.

Does a 12-pocket preview print twelve inserts per sheet?

No. Binder preview layout is separate from PDF paper layout. BinderPress currently fits up to nine inserts on A4 or six on US Letter.

Which layout should I choose for 250 slots?

The example needs 63 page sides at four pockets, 28 at nine, or 21 at twelve. Compare those numbers with the actual capacity and arrangement you want; 250 is an illustrative count.
